NEK Farm to School Regional Gathering

Integrating Personalized Learning Plans Across the Curriculum - Grant Information Session

Audience: Curriculum Directors, School Counselors, Flexible Pathway Coordinators, PLP Coordinators, Teachers 

Join us to learn about a new grant opportunity that will help SU/SDs integrate the personalized learning planning process and PLPs into curricula across content areas, explore the critical role of adults in developing student agency, and help students plan for their futures. Participants will contribute to the development of new guidance documents and tools, such as a sample integrated PLP curriculum and guide to assist SU/SDs in meeting the requirements of 16 V.S.A. § 941. For more information on the grant, see Integrating PLPs Across the Curriculum Grant Overview. This session is a part of our ongoing Collaborative Pathways: Personalizing Learning Together Series.  

We have scheduled two sessions to best accommodate scheduling demands. The content for each session is the same and interested staff need only attend one of the meetings.

Professional Learning for Secondary Math Educators, Summer 2025 Grant Opportunity

Audience: Secondary Math Educators (Grades 7-12), Curriculum Directors, Principals

The AOE is dispersing funds to support SUs/SDs in providing an opportunity to complement and amplify their existing middle school and high school professional learning needs in mathematics instruction, through summer professional learning. The AOE is offering grant-supported competing funds to schools who are seeking to enhance educator knowledge and pedagogy in mathematics. Additional information and examples of approved professional learning courses can be found in the Math Educators Grant Overview. A total of $70,000 is available for this award. This grant will open for application submissions on May 30. Registration and POs can be issued prior to July 1, but no payment may be made prior to July 1, 2025. SUs/SDs will be reimbursed after July 1. An informational meeting will be held on May 22, 2025.

2025 Behavioral Threat Assessment Team Workshops - May 8 and 9

Audience: Current and Future School Behavioral Threat Assessment Team Members

The Agency of Education, in partnership with the Vermont School Safety Center, is pleased to announce a series of upcoming Behavioral Threat Assessment (BTA) Team workshops, to be held on May 8 and 9. These workshops are designed to support current and future BTA teams in building and maintaining effective BTA programs under the new requirements of Act 29 (2023). Please note that these workshops are an optional, separate offering from the required annual BTA training. Please visit the 2025 BTA Workshop webpage for more information and registration. Vermont Public: Shakespeare or Taylor Swift?

Audience: Vermont Educators, Grades 6-12 Educators

From PBS, and for fun, test your ability to identify if a line is from Shakespeare or Taylor Swift in this video from the National Theater, Shakespeare or Taylor Swift. Cast members from Great Performances: Romeo and Juliet are presented with quotes and have to decide whether they are from the bard of today or the past! Support materials ask students to extend the game by coming up with their own version using a different songwriter. Summer Trainings on Recently Adopted National Physical Education Standards 

Audience: Curriculum Directors and Educators

The Agency of Education, in support of the implementation of the recently adopted 2024 SHAPE America National Physical Education standards, has contracted with SHAPE America to provide three regional trainings to Physical Education educators in Vermont. The three trainings will be full-day events (8:30-3:30) and held on August 13 at Randolph Union High School, August 14 at Manchester Elementary Middle School, and August 15 at Missisquoi Valley Union Middle and High School. All participants must complete the registration form to attend. Each site has a maximum registration cap, so please sign up soon, if interested.

2024-2025 Family Engagement Networking Series 

Audience: Family Engagement Coordinators and Liaisons, School and District Administrators, Curriculum Coordinators, Community Organization Personnel

Please join the 2024-2025 Family Engagement Networking Series: Family Engagement as a Strategy for Improving Belonging and Well-Being. At the May 8, 2025 session, from 1-2 p.m., we will focus on a Strength-Based Reflection and Assessment of this School Year’s Family Engagement. We will discuss the skills you bring to this work, successes, opportunities, priorities, and hopes for the end of the year. These informal monthly virtual sessions for family engagement colleagues to connect, hear updates, and share strategies regarding family engagement are facilitated by the AOE Vermont Multi-Tiered System of Supports (VTmtss) Team.

Financial Literacy - Professional Development

Audience: Superintendents, Administrators, Curriculum Directors, CTE Directors, CTE Educators, Middle and High School Educators

Teach Financial Literacy is a free online three-graduate-credit course being offered by Champlain College's Center for Financial Literacy from June 30 to August 22. Twenty graduate course scholarships are available for middle and high school educators from New England and New York. Scholarship applications must be submitted and completed prior to June 20. Teachers who complete the training will have the confidence, skills and curriculum tools to successfully bring financial literacy topics into their classrooms. Behavioral Threat Assessment Office Hours

Audience: Current and Prospective BTA Team Members

Behavioral Threat Assessment (BTA) Team Office Hours are available on Tuesdays from 12 to 2 p.m., and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m., for questions and guidance from the BTA Consultants about the BTA policies and procedures, process tools, best practices, or readiness activities to prepare a BTA Team, including prospective team members. The 2024-2025 Vermont Multi-tiered System Survey Data Collection Window Opens May 1

Audience: Principals and Superintendents

The annual Vermont Multi-tiered System of Supports (VTmtss) Statewide Survey data collection window remains open through May 31, 2025. The survey link was provided to principals. This online survey includes a save-and-resume feature for your convenience. The data collected from this survey, required by the state of Vermont in accordance with 16 V.S.A. § 290, provides the AOE with data about the use of the VTmtss Framework in schools. Guiding Student Success Through Transitions: Systemic and Collaborative Strategies within VTmtss

Audience: MTSS Coordinators, Family Engagement Coordinators, School and District Administrators

This session explores how the Vermont Multi-Tiered System of Supports (VTmtss) Framework Components of Effective Collaboration and Systemic and Comprehensive Approaches guide educational systems in planning for effective student support transitions at the end of the year. We will highlight key strategies to maintain continuity of services and support for students with Section 504 plans, EST plans, and other student success plans, while engaging families during these transitions. Professional Development: Project Community - Engaging All Students in Media Literacy and Public Policy

Audience: Elementary and Middle School Administrators, Teachers, Librarians; Middle School ELA and Social Studies Teachers

The Center for Civic Education is providing a professional development (PD) opportunity for educators in grades 4-8 for Project Community, which is focused on engaging students in media literacy with hands-on engagement in public policy. Apply to this expense-paid summer training that will take place in New Jersey July 7-11. Stipends will be provided to applicants that complete the summer institute, virtual follow-up PD, and 20 hours of curriculum delivery in the classroom/library during the 2025-2026 school year (with anonymous student and teacher pre- and post-testing). Priority will be given to early applicants.

May Read Vermont Workshop: Phoneme Grapheme Mapping 

Audience: All Educators (especially those focused on literacy) and Administrators 

Join Vermont’s Kathryn Grace on May 21 from 3:30-5:30 for the May Read Vermont Workshop, focused on Phoneme Grapheme Mapping™. This workshop will focus on the what and why of Phoneme Grapheme Mapping™ and how it can be utilized across grade levels to build foundational reading and spelling skills and enhance any literacy program. In this webinar, participants will learn how to teach this process through hands-on practice across all syllable types in both single and multi-syllable words.
